24 Hours in Tulum
Today was an exciting day - I finally started looking for wedding venues for our destination wedding next year in Tulum! I already happened to be in Cancun for a friend's bachelorette party - so it was the perfect opportunity for me to slip away for half a day to check out potential locales for my upcoming nuptials! I brought along a trusted friend for the day as we scouted out all of the gorgeous beach-front options.
After seeing so many of these places online for months, it was great to finally see the boutique venues in person. Pictures rarely do justice and this case was no different. My wedding coordinator, Arlenis Ruiz Weddings, drove us to multiple potentials as we sipped on local organic coffee from Papaya Playa's kitchen. I was blown away by the beauty and laid-back vibe of Tulum. Living in Austin has given me an appreciation for low-key venues with great ambiance and exceptional food - Tulum provided just that. It would be hard not to fall in love with the two-lane beach road that houses all of Tulum's top resorts and restaurants. On one side is beach front businesses, and the other side houses restaurants and resorts situated in the dense jungle. Travel by bike seemed to be the preferred mode of transportation, as the beach strip is less than 10 miles long and lined with gourmet coffee shops and eateries.
We covered quite a bit of ground given the short window of opportunity I had. All in all, we visited Hemingway Resort, Papaya Playa Project, Amansala Eco resort, Gitano, and Arca. They were all unique and beautiful in their own way. Take a look at the photos! Let me know which venue you like in the comments and as always, I would love to hear recommendations on where to eat/drink/play in Tulum while we are there for our wedding!
